Space Tech Expo

SmallSpark will be attending Space Tech Expo between 13th - 15thMay 2024.

SmallSpark is attending Space Tech Expo USA between the 13th and 15th May 2024.

At the event, our Director of Operations, Jared Byron, will be available to discuss our Mission Driven Design Automation technology as well as our Payload Integration system CIPHER.

Our Mission Driven Design Automation technology, Mission Management Suite (MMS) is focused on automating and accelerating the processes taken to bring a spacecraft concept to reality. It incorporates artificial intelligence with human input to enhance the productivity of the engineers working in the aerospace sector.

Our CIPHER system ensures maximum security and reliability for integrated payloads through modular isolation from the spacecraft’s main computer, minimising disruption risks. CIPHER simplifies integration and hosting of multiple payloads while maintaining flexibility, ultimately reducing development cycle time, and enhancing system focus.

Automating Rocket Motor Design

Project Overview:

Innovative Application of Digital Fusion Technology:

In a groundbreaking project with the Ministry of Defence, SmallSpark utilized its Digital Fusion technology to automate the design of solid rocket motor fuel grains. This project leveraged our advanced in-house modelling capabilities combined with cutting-edge optimization and machine learning design technologies.

A Leap in Design and Qualification Timeframes:

Our primary objective was to dramatically reduce the time required to design and qualify solid propulsion systems. Traditionally, this process could take up to a decade. However, by harnessing the power of Digital Fusion, we proved critical technologies necessary to shorten this timeline to under two years, setting a new industry standard.

Utilising Digital Twins for Smarter Decision-Making:

A key component of our approach was the use of Digital Twins. This technology enabled us to make smarter, data-driven decisions, enhancing the long-term strategic planning for solid propulsion systems.

Impact and Outcomes:

Significant Reduction in Design Time:

The application of Digital Fusion technology successfully reduced the design and qualification time for solid rocket motors.

Advancing the Defense Sector:

This project has had a profound impact on the defense sector, offering a glimpse into the future of rapid, efficient, and advanced propulsion system development.

Setting New Benchmarks:

SmallSpark’s work with the DASA has set new benchmarks in the field of propulsion technology, showcasing our commitment to innovation and excellence in defense solutions.
